PORTLAND, Ore.  - A total of 69 student-athletes – 32 men and 37 women - have been named to the 2013 Great Northwest Athletic Conference cross country all-conference academic team.

Heading up the academic squad are three athletes – Michael Fehrenbach of Alaska Fairbanks, Sarah Freistone of Alaska Anchorage and Jinise Osborne of Montana State Billings – with perfect 4.00 GPAs. 

Lorenzo Smith of Simon Fraser has a 4.22 GPA in the Canadian system which  awards 4.33 points for an A+.

Seven athletes – Tux Seims and Alyson McPhetres of Alaska Fairbanks, Nathan Minor of Central Washington, Erika Crock of Saint Martin’s, James Young and Kirsten Allen of Simon Fraser, and Chip Jackson of Western Washington – were named to the team for the third time.

An additional 18 athletes – six men and 12 women – were named to the team for the second time.

To qualify for the academic team athletes must have a minimum GPA of at least 3.20 and competing in at least their second season at their respective universities.
