PORTLAND, Ore. – Standouts both on the diamond and in the classroom, a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball student-athletes have been announced as selections to the 2018 Google Cloud College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division II District 8 Academic All-District Team.

Concordia senior outfielder Cole Crosby is joined by Western Oregon senior infielder Jay Leverett as the two GNAC representatives to the list.

Crosby, an Honorable Mention All-GNAC selection this year, has been a consistent bat for a Cavaliers team that earned its first GNAC postseason berth in program history. Maintaining a 3.89 GPA as a chemistry major, Crosby is second on the team with a .328 batting average and 44 hits. In 34 starts, the senior has recorded 12 RBIs and owns a .412 on-base percentage. Crosby is also one of four players named to the GNAC All-Academic Team on three occasions.

Pursuing a degree in business, Leverett holds a 3.72 GPA and is a three-time Academic All-GNAC selection. Earning First Team All-GNAC honors this year, Leverett is seventh in the GNAC with a .368 batting average and is fifth in the league with a .456 on-base percentage. Leverett has started all but one game this season at second base and has committed just five errors for a .973 fielding percentage.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America separately recognizes honorees in four divisions; NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where the All-America honorees will be announced in June.
