Wichita Falls, Tex. – The GNAC was well-represented at the NCAA Division II West Super Regional with three golfers finishing inside the top 20 in Simon Fraser’s Jaya Rampuri and Emily Leung along with Western Washington’s Jenn Paul on Wednesday at the Wichita Falls Country Club.

Each of the three golfers was inside the top 10 going into the final holes of the third round, but all three had a series of three holes that knocked them out of contention for the three individual qualifying spots for the national tournament. Simon Fraser finished in ninth place as a team with an overall score of 80-over-par 944, scoring their best round on the final day at 23-over-par 311.

Paul was tied for fourth place going into the final six holes of the 54-hole tournament on the 6149-yard par-72 golf course. She shot a 3-under-par 33 on the front nine, but recorded double bogeys on the 13th and 15th holes to drop down into a tie for 16th place.

Leung and Rampuri were tied for seventh place with just three holes to go each. Rampuri was 1-under-par on the day at that point, starting on hole 10. A double bogey on the seventh hole, however, dropped the freshman outside of the top 10. She finished the day at 2-over-par 74 for an overall score of 11-over-par 227 to tie for 12th place. Leung finished the day with three consecutive bogeys to drop down to a tie for 16th place with an overall score of 12-over-par 228.

Belinda Lin finished third for the Clan with an overall score of 27-over-par 243 after equaling her first-round score of 80 on Wednesday to move up four spots on the leaderboard. Erin Farner also shot an 8-over-par 80 on the final day to score a 31-over-par 247 for the whole tournament. Kylie Jack went 17 over par on the final day to finish at 41-over-par 257.

Three players in the top 20 is the most by the GNAC at the super regional. Rampuri’s 12th-place finish is the second-best result for ever by a GNAC athlete at the West Super Regional.
