PORTLAND, Ore. – With a No. 11 ranking in the Women’s Division II Bulletin preseason poll, Western Washington was the lone GNAC school ranked in the top-25 according to the monthly publication that covers NCAA DII women’s basketball.

Receiving the nod as the top team in the WDIIB poll was Bentley (Mass.), with Clayton State (Ga.) picked No. 2.

After winning the GNAC Championship a season ago, Western Washington will look to defend its title behind reigning GNAC Coach of the Year Carmen Dolfo.

Simon Fraser was the lone GNAC school listed in the ‘others to watch’ category, landing at the top of the list and narrowly missing inclusion in the WDIIB preseason top-25.

Amongst the WDIIB Super 16 Selections representing the West region was Bobbi Knudsen (G, 5-8, Sr., Malta, MT – Malta) of Montana State Billings. The senior guard was a first team All-GNAC selection a season ago, and finished second in the conference in scoring with an average of 17.8 points per game.

Receiving honorable mention Super 16 notice was Megan Hingston (G, 5-9, Sr., Keizer, OR - McNary) of Northwest Nazarene, who led the GNAC in scoring in 2012-13 with 18.6 points per contest.

The GNAC women’s basketball preseason coaches’ poll, preseason All-Conference team, and full 2013-14 season preview report is set to be released next Thursday, Oct. 17.
