NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene University's volleyball team has begun its cultural exchange trip to China.

The Crusaders will play a series of matches against Chinese collegiate teams during the tour which lasts through June 18.

"It's something where we want to go and immerse ourselves in, and it will give us a different outlook on the world," NNU volleyball head coach Doug English said of the trip.

The unique opportunity to play in a country so different from the United States, along with the chance to visiting historical sights and to see a vastly different cultural, all drove the Crusaders desire to make this exchange possible.

The tour is the first of what Dr. Ben Earwicker, chair of NNU's Department of Psychology, Sociology and Criminal Justice and chair of the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture, expects will be many exchanges between NNU and China in future years.
