PORTLAND, Ore. – A solid weekend at the site of the GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships provided Concordia a trio of GNAC Athlete of the Week awards.

Sophomores Chelsea Bone and Macie Allen swept the women’s track and field weekly awards while junior Adam Brown earned the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honor for their performances at the Ed Jacoby Invitational at the Jackson’s Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho.

Bone was named the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after she set the Concordia record in the pentathlon with a score of 3,368 points. She placed third and was the top Division II placer in the field of 16 competitors. Her ledger included a third-place finish in the shot put and fourth-place finishes in the high jump, long jump and 800 meters. The NCAA Championships provisional-qualifying effort is the second-best in the GNAC and No. 18 in Division II this season.

Allen earned Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honors after she posted an NCAA Championships provisional time in the 60 meters. She ran 7.68 seconds in the event preliminaries, which leads the GNAC, and went on to place third in the finals with a time of 7.74 seconds. Allen also placed seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 25.65 seconds, the third-fastest mark in the conference this season.

Brown was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after he ran the conference’s top this season in the 200 meters. He placed fourth in the event with a time of 22.13 seconds. Brown went on to place seventh in the 60 meters with a time of 7.11 seconds. His time of 7.06 in the preliminaries was the fourth-fastest in Concordia history.

Northwest Nazarene sophomore Dakota Tidwell earned Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors after he earned an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark in the heptathlon at the Ed Jacoby Invitational. Tidwell placed second with a score of 4,923 points, ranking him No. 18 in Division II this season and No. 10 on the GNAC All-Time Best List. In the process, Tidwell set the NNU record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.26 seconds.

The Nighthawks also earned recognition on the basketball court as senior guard Ellie Logan was named the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Logan scored 46 points and had eight rebounds in two wins as the Nighthawks improved to 16-0 on the year. Logan opened the week with 17 points and five rebounds in a critical 89-69 road win at Central Washington on Tuesday. She then led all scorers with 29 points in Saturday’s 102-75 win over Montana State Billings, shooting 11 of 14 from the field and 6 of 7 from the free throw line. For the week, Logan shot 65 percent from the field and made 11 of 12 from the free throw line.

Alaska Anchorage junior guard/forward Tyler Brimhall turned in a pair of consistent performances to earn selection as the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Brimhall scored 43 points and had 14 rebounds in the two games, shooting 57 percent from the field and 78 percent from three-point range. He opened the week with 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists in Thursday’s 79-63 win over Central Washington. Brimhall then added 22 points and five rebounds in Saturday’s 85-73 win over Northwest Nazarene. He made 5 of 7 from the field and 10 of 12 from the free throw line in the effort.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Tyler Brimhall
(Alaska Anchorage, G/F, 6-5, Jr., Logan, Utah – North Idaho JC): Brimhall posted a pair of solid performances to lead the Seawolves to a sweep of Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene, finishing with 43 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 57 percent from the field and 78 percent from three-point range. In Thursday’s 79-63 win over the Wildcats, Brimhall finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists, shooting 7 of 14 from the field and 6 of 9 from three-point range. He then led the Seawolves with 22 points and five rebounds in Saturday’s 85-73 win over the Nighthawks. He connected on 5 of 7 from the field and 10 of 12 from the free throw line. (Northwest Nazarene, G, 5-9, Sr., Fossil, Ore. – Condon-Wheeler): Logan led the red-hot Nighthawks with 46 points and eight rebounds in two wins, shooting 65 percent from the field and 11 of 12 from the free throw line. She opened the week by scoring 17 points with five rebounds in Tuesday’s 89-69 road win at Central Washington. Logan then led all scorers with 29 points in Saturday’s 102-75 win over Montana State Billings. She shot 11 of 14 from the field and 6 of 7 from the free throw line in the victory. Also Nominated: Hannah Wandersee (Alaska Anchorage), Alexis Pana (Central Washington), Keesha Sarman (Concordia), Claire Dingus (Saint Martin’s), Tayler Drynan (Simon Fraser), Natalie DeLonge (Western Oregon), Lexie Bland (Western Washington).

(Concordia, Jr., Portland, Ore. – City Christian): Brown ran the fastest time in the GNAC this season in the 200 meters at the Ed Jacoby Invitational, placing fourth in the event with a time of 22.13 seconds. Brown then finished seventh in the 60 meters in a time 7.11 seconds. His time of 7.06 seconds in the preliminary round was the fourth-fastest in Concordia history and is fifth-fastest in the GNAC this season. Also Nominated: Daniel Calderon (Central Washington).

MEN’S FIELD
Dakota Tidwell
(Northwest Nazarene, So., South Jordan, Utah – Bingham): Tidwell hit an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark in the heptathlon at the Ed Jacoby Invitational. His second-place score of 4,923 points is No. 18 in Division II this season and No. 10 on the GNAC All-Time List. Tidwell took second place in three of the event’s seven disciplines: the 60 meters (7.26), the shot put (37-4) and pole vault (14-1.25). His time in the 60 meters was an NNU school record. Also Nominated: Emmanuel Carrizales (Concordia).

Macie Allen
(Concordia, So., Gresham, Ore. – Western Washington Univ.): Allen placed third in the 60 meters as the Ed Jacoby Invitational, clocking a time of 7.74 seconds in the finals. Her time of 7.68 in the preliminary heats leads the GNAC, is second-fastest in Concordia history and is an NCAA Championships provisional qualifier. Allen also placed seventh in the 200 meters in a time of 25.65 seconds, which is third-best in the GNAC this season. Also Nominated: Mariyah Vongasveng (Central Washington).
