PORTLAND, Ore. – It was a great weekend of basketball at the Sodexo Tip-Off Classic, hosted by Seattle Pacific on Friday and Saturday, with both GNAC Players of the Week coming from the tournament at Royal Brougham Pavilion.

Seattle Pacific senior Coleman Wooten led the home team to two victories, earning the forward GNAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. Wooten finished with 25 points and 23 rebounds and opened the tournament with seven points and 13 rebounds in Friday’s 81-72 victory over Westminster (Utah). He then posted a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, which included five offensive boards, in Saturday’s 83-65 win over Azusa Pacific. Wooten also had two assists as he finished the weekend shooting 47.8 percent from the field.

The contests were the first two of the season for Seattle Pacific, which had its opening weekend games at Chico State’s Mac Martin Invitational canceled due to the Camp Fire. The Falcons play this weekend at the Point Loma Thanksgiving Classic in San Diego, facing St. Cloud State on Friday and Cal St. San Bernardino on Saturday.

Western Washington sophomore Kelsey Rogers was tabbed as the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after she scored 50 points in a Vikings’ split in the tournament, shooting 71.4 percent from the field and 10 of 10 from the free throw line. Rogers led all scorers with 26 points on 12 of 16 from the field in Friday’s 79-72 loss to UC San Diego. Rogers then notched a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday’s 77-74 win over Azusa Pacific as she made 8 of 12 from the field and 8 of 8 from the free throw line.

Western Washington finished the weekend with a 2-2 overall record. The Vikings will host the Lynda Goodrich Classic this weekend, hosting Mary on Friday and Minnesota-Crookston on Saturday.

Wooten opened by finishing with seven points and 12 rebounds in Friday’s 81-72 victory over Westminster (Utah). Wooten then collected a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, which included five offensive board, to go with two assists in Saturday’s 83-65 win over Azusa Pacific. Wooten shot 47.8 percent from the field while playing a team-high 59 minutes. She then finished with a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds on 8 of 12 from the field and 8 of 8 from the free throw line in Saturday’s 77-74 win over Azusa Pacific.
