PORTLAND, Ore. – A pair of juniors who are helping to anchor their respective teams on the field while holding down perfect grade point averages in the classroom lead a total of 92 student-athletes selected to the 2018 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team.

Montana State Billings defender Amanda Hemmen and Western Oregon midfielder Selene Konyn are two of four conference players carrying a 4.00 GPA. Hemmen, a biology major, and Konyn, an early childhood education major, both enter the week having started 15 matches.

The pair of 4.00 juniors are joined atop the All-Academic Team by Central Washington sophomore goalkeeper Emily Thomson, whose major is undeclared, and Seattle Pacific sophomore forward Sophia Chilczuk, who majors in psychology. Chilczuk tops a Seattle Pacific squad that placed 15 players on the All-Academic Team, accounting for 53 percent of the Falcons’ total roster.

The quartet of perfect 4.0s also headlines a list of 16 players listed with GPAs of 3.90 or higher.

Over one-third of the honorees on this year’s All-Academic Team are repeat performers. The list includes 33 two-time honorees and 22 three-time honorees. In addition, Seattle Pacific senior forward Mickayla Mury is being honored for the fourth time. Mury has a 3.55 GPA as an integrated studies major.

Selections to the GNAC All-Academic Teams must be of sophomore standing or greater, be in their second year at the nominating school, have a minimum of a 3.20 cumulative grade point average at their current institution and be on the roster for their team the full season.
