PORTLAND, Ore. – GNAC Insider returned Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. (PDT) with a stacked show as we roll into the second half of October.

Leading off the show was Clint Schneider, the head coach of the Simon Fraser men's soccer team. Schneider has been at the helm in Burnaby since 2015 and has led the Clan to three conference championships since taking over. 

The most recent title was clinched on Saturday night as SFU improved to 8-0 in GNAC action (14-0 overall) with a 3-0 shutout of visiting Saint Martin's. The victory also earned the club the selection as GNAC Team of the Week. 

With just two weeks of regular season play remaining, Schneider has Simon Fraser near the top of multiple statistical categories throughout all of Division II. The top-ranked team in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top-25, the Clan rank second in total goals (52), total points (148) and shutout percentage (0.714).

Up in Fairbanks, new athletic director Sterling Steward is nearing the completion of his first month as the man in charge at Alaska. Steward was chosen by the Nanooks to lead the athletic department back in August and started at his new position on Oct. 8. 

It's an exciting time up at UAF as the school's volleyball team is one of the hottest in the conference. Alaska had won seven straight matches before falling to No. 2 Western Washington on Saturday. Steward joined the show to talk about his move to Fairbanks (from an AD position at Division I Savannah State), the volleyball team's success, plus much more. 

GNAC Insider was also joined by GNAC commissioner Dave Haglund. Haglund just recently returned from a seven-day road trip that included stops in Anchorage and Fairbanks for campus visits along with a trip to NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis for the Division II commissioner meetings. The conference's commissioner also discussed the league's upcoming championships in both cross country and women's soccer.
