PORTLAND, Ore. – In the first week of GNAC men’s golf play, all six GNAC teams participated in both the Saint Martin’s Invitational and Western Washington Invitational.

On Saturday, Western Washington came away with a first place finish at the Saint Martin’s Invitational, ending the two-day tournament five strokes ahead of second place at 856. Devin Andrews led the Vikings with a fourth place finish, shooting 1-under par 212.

Simon Fraser’s Chris Crisologo finished the SMU Invitational as the highest GNAC placer in third with a 2-under par 211. His effort during the weekend earned him the first GNAC Men’s Golfer of the Week award this season.

Just three days later, the Clan gained its first tournament victory of the season at the 46th Western Washington Invitational off the back of first and second place performances by Simon Fraser’s Scott Kerr and Crisologo. Kerr ended his stellar 206-stroke tournament shooting 6-under par 66 in his final round, while Crisologo finished 8-under par 208.

CONCORDIA

• Playing in their first invitational of the fall season, the Cavaliers tied for ninth with a three-round score of 892 at the Saint Martin's Invitational.
• Nick Huff led the way for the Cavaliers with his 5-over par 218.
• Playing in his first tournament for Concordia, sophomore transfer Jaxson Daskalos shot a 12-over par 225 to finish in a four-way tie for 35^thFinishing one stroke behind Daskalos in his first collegiate tournament, Steve Shih shot a 226 to finish in a seven-way tie for 39th.
• Three days later, Braeden Campbell finished in a tie for 37th place with a three-round score of 7-over par 223 to lead Concordia at the Western Washington Invitational.
• Finishing two strokes behind Campbell was Daskalos, who shot a 225 (73-78-74), tying him for 45th place. 

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS

• Scoring under 300 in all three rounds, Montana State Billings finished in eighth place at the Saint Martin's Invitational on Saturday.
• The Yellowjackets shot a collective 587 on in two rounds on Fridayf, finishing with a three-round total of 886 (293-294-299).
• Garrett Woodin led the way for the Yellowjackets on Saturday, shooting a team-best 73 in his final round. Woodin ended in a tie for 18th place, with a three-round total of 218 (75-70-73).
• At the Western Washington Invitational, the Yellowjackets finished the tournament in 14th place with a three-round score of 913 (308-299-306).
• MSUB’s top finisher at the event was freshman Caleb Trost, who ended the tournament in a tie for 58th place with a three-round score of 228 (79-72-77). Trost wrapped up the tournament with one birdie on Tuesday, leveling him to an even-par 35 on the back-nine.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE

• Northwest Nazarene opened the 2017-18 season this week with an 11th place finish at the Saint Martin's Invitational during the weekend.
• Henry Bernard finished tied for 33rd to lead the Crusaders with a 36-hole total of 224 (77-69-78).
• Northwest Nazarene posted a final round 296 to finish tied for 15th at the Western Washington Invitational on Tuesday.
• After rounds of 312 and 307 on Monday, the Crusaders 8-over par 296 score on Tuesday gave them a total score of 915, ending the tournament tied with Concordia. Justin Higgins led the Crusaders with a 2-under par 70 in the final round.
• Andrew Cortez and Higgins led the Crusaders’ starting five, each finishing with a tournament total of 227 and tying for 53rd.  Cortez had rounds of 78-74-75, while Higgins shot 79-78-70.

SAINT MARTIN'S

• After leading the Saints through the first two rounds of the Saint Martin’s Invitational, Tyler Fitchett finished the final round with a 2-over par 73 to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team as Saint Martin's placed sixth overall.
• Fitchett dominated on par-4 holes, finishing 2-under par on those holes. His efforts saw him record the second highest par-4 score in the tournament.
• Consistent play from Trevor Frisbyand Fitchett gave the Saints' their second top ten finish of the year after wrapping up play at the Western Washington Invitational tied for 9th with a team score of 877 (297-285-295).
• Frisby led the Saints after the first round shooting a 1-under par 71, and led SMU at the end of the tournament with a total score of 216, placing him tied for 12th overall. Fitchett posted the lowest score of the third round for Saint Martin's at even-par 72 and finished with tied for 16th on the overall leaderboard.

SIMON FRASER

• Three-time NCAA All-American Chris Crisologo opened his senior season placing third at the Saint Martin’s Invitational on Saturday, helping Simon Fraser to a tie for third place overall.
• Three other SFU players finished inside the top 25. Scott Kerr tied for 10th, Alan Tolusso tied for 15th and Marcus Brown tied for 24^th. Tolusso was playing as an individual during the tournament.
• At the Western Washington Invitational, Kerr fired a final round 6-under par 66 to edge teammate Crisologo for first place honors, helping Simon Fraser capture its first tournament victory of the season.
• Kerr won his first career tournament by two strokes over Crisologo with a three-round score of 10-under par 206. Kerr recorded rounds of 71, 69 and 66.
• Defending tournament champion Crisologo shot a final round of 2-under par 70 to fall two strokes behind Kerr. His final 18 holes included four birdies and two bogeys.

WESTERN WASHINGTON

• Western Washington recorded a five-stroke team victory in the season-opening Saint Martin’s Invitational played Friday and Saturday.
• The Vikings, ranked tied for 24th in the preseason Bushnell Golfweek Division II Preseason Poll, recorded a tournament score of 4-over par 856. WWU shot 5-over par 293 in round three after one-under par in the opening two rounds.
• WWU placed three players inside the top 10. Freshman Devin Andrews led the way with a 4^th-place finish, shooting 1-under par 212.
• In their most recent tournament, Western Washington finished in a tie for 6th place at their home Western Washington Invitational.
• Despite participating as an individual, freshman Brody Bonfilio was the highest placing Viking, finishing at 3-under par 213 to claim 6th place. Bonfilio ended the two-day tournament with rounds of 72-70-71 in his collegiate debut.

GNAC Men’s Golfer of the Week (Sept. 25, 2017)
Chris Crisologo (Simon Fraser, Sr., Richmond, B.C. – Vancouver College): In the opening tournament of the season, Crisologo was the top GNAC finisher at the Saint Martin’s Invitational. His third place score of 2-under-par 211 included a second round score of 7-under-par 65, which ties for the ninth-lowest fall round in conference history and is the lowest round Crisologo has scored in collegiate play.
