RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Wrapping up an outstanding individual career with yet another first-team selection, Simon Fraser senior defender Magnus Kristensen was named to the D2CCA Division II All-America First Team for the second time in his career.

Named to the 13-man team, Kristensen is the first three-time All-American in Simon Fraser’s NCAA men’s soccer history, receiving first-team honors in 2013 and a second-team achievement in 2016. Earning the 2013 GNAC Freshman of the Year award, Kristensen is also a two-time GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and a four-time All-GNAC selection.

“Magnus has been one of the best centerbacks we have ever had in the program and he has added his name to a long list of quality Norwegians that we have had in the program,” said Simon Fraser head coach Clint Schneider. “He has been consistently excellent for us and he is a winner. He will be missed and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

During his time with the program, the Clan went 64-15-15 and captured two GNAC regular-season titles. Kristensen led a Clan backline that allowed just 16 goals (0.89 per game) including eight shutouts and was second on the team in minutes starting all 18 games. Along with his defensive efforts, the central defender tallied two goals and three assists for seven points.

Earlier this week, Kristensen was named as a first-team selection to the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches All-West Region squads.

Simon Fraser ended the season in the first round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs, finishing the year with an 11-3-4 record overall while going 7-2-3 in GNAC action.
