INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Claiming its second-straight conference title last week, No. 15 Simon Fraser is the lone Great Northwest Athletic Conference squad selected for the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer West Regionals Tournament.

Winning its sixth conference title in eight years and earning the automatic qualification bid to the tournament, the Clan enters as the No. 3 seed. They will take on a familiar CCAA foe, No. 6-seeded Cal Poly Pomona (14-5), in the opening round in San Diego, Calif., on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.

Earlier this season, Simon Fraser topped the Broncos 2-1 on Sept. 10 in the Rimrock Classic hosted by Montana State Billings. The winner will move on to face the PacWest’s No. 2-seeded Point Loma (14-2-2), who went unbeaten during conference play for a second-place finish. That match will take place on Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.

The other side of the West Region bracket features a pair of CCAA teams battling for the right to take on the PacWest champion, Cal Baptist. Cal State LA and Cal State Dominguez Hills kickoff their match in Riverside, Calif., on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. The winner will take on Cal Baptist two days later at 1 p.m.

Simon Fraser ended the regular season 11-2-4 and led the GNAC in shots (262), goals (37), goals allowed (14) and shutouts (eight). In last year’s Division II West Regional Championships, the Clan played Cal Poly Pomona to a scoreless draw, but eventually fell in penalty kicks.
