BURNABY, B.C. – For the second-consecutive season, No. 15 Simon Fraser was crowned the GNAC men’s soccer champion after a 2-0 defeat against Seattle Pacific Saturday night at Terry Fox Field.

The Clan also used a little help from their friends. While the win over the Falcons put Simon Fraser one point ahead, the Clan needed a Western Washington loss to secure the crown. Concordia delivered the big road victory over the Vikings, 2-1, on Saturday night to give SFU its sixth GNAC title since joining the league in 2010.

With the win, Simon Fraser is awarded the GNAC’s automatic berth to the NCAA Division II West Regionals. The tournament field will be announced on the NCAA Selection Show on Monday at 3:30 p.m. (Pacific).

Simon Fraser midfielder Mamadi Camara scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season to put the Clan back on track after dropping points in their last two matches. Clan goalkeeper Miguel Hof recorded his sixth shutout of the year after turning away eight shots on 11 attempts.

The Clan will end the regular season with their final regular-season home match against Western Washington on Sunday at 4 p.m. The match, originally scheduled for Thursday, was postponed due to inclement weather.
