KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two of the most dynamic scorers in the conference have earned the attention of the regional coaches as Alaska junior guard Shadeed Shabazz and Seattle Pacific sophomore guard Divant’e Moffitt have earned First Team All-West Region honors from the National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC).

The duo were the only GNAC selections to the 11-member team as voted upon by the region’s coaches. Both First Team All-GNAC selections, Shabazz was named last week to the D2CCA All-West Region First Team while Moffitt was a second-team selection.

Shabazz was named the GNAC Player and Newcomer of the Year and shared the Defensive Player of the Year award after leading the conference and ranking third in Division II in scoring at 26.7 points per game. He also finished as the national leader in steals, averaging 3.38 per game and 115 total steals. Shabazz set the GNAC single-season record with 798 points scored, surpassing the mark of 770 set by Western Oregon’s Andy Avgi in 2015-16.

In 30 games, Shabazz scored 30 or more points on 12 occasions and 40 or more points three times.

Moffitt earned First Team All-GNAC honors after leading the Falcons to their first GNAC regular-season championship since 2014 with an 18-2 conference mark and a 22-7 overall record. Moffitt finished fourth in the GNAC in scoring at 17.1 points per game, seventh in the conference with 3.4 assists per contest and tied for ninth with a .819 free-throw percentage. Moffitt scored in double figures in 26 games, led by his 33 points at Alaska on January 30.
