PORTLAND, Ore. – Saint Martin’s senior Fred Jorg has performed big for the Saints both on the court and in classroom. The center leads a total of 32 selections to the 2016-17 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team.

Jorg tops the list of honorees with a 3.96 cumulative grade point average as he pursues his Master's of Business Administration. On the court, Jorg has played a siginificant role in keeping the Saints alive in the chase for a GNAC Championships berth. A starter in 23 of 24 games for SMU this season, Jorg is averaging 7.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

In addition to his GNAC All-Academic selection, Jorg was the conference’s lone representative on the CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District 8 Men’s Basketball Team.

Jorg is one of eight members of the squad who have GPAs of 3.80 or better. That list includes Concordia seniors Davis Nuaimi and Latrell Wilson, Northwest Nazarene junior Marko Lepovic, Saint Martin junior Victor Ieronymides, Seattle Pacific junior Sam Simpson and Western Oregon senior Connor Thompson.

This year’s All-Academic Team includes 12 repeat selections and a trio of three-time selections: Central Washington’s Terry Dawn, Montana State Billings’ Jace Anderson and Western Oregon’s Thompson.

To qualify for the GNAC All-Academic Teams, honorees must be a sophomore eligibility or greater and have a cumulative GPA or 3.20 or greater.
