GNAC Reprimands UAA Coach Osborne

Saturday, February 6, 2016

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Great Northwest Athletic Conference has reprimanded University of Alaska Anchorage men’s basketball coach Rusty Osborne for actions near the end of regulation in the Feb. 4 game vs. Western Washington as well as for his post-game public criticism of game officials.

Late in regulation of the double overtime game, Coach Osborne went well onto the playing floor to object to a call by an official.

“Coach Osborne has been advised that his behavior Thursday night does not meet the standards established by the GNAC and constitutes a violation of the conference bylaws,” said Commissioner Dave Haglund. “We expect our coaches to act as role models and to exhibit respectable standards of decorum and personal deportment at conference events. Actions such as these, including public criticism of game officials, will not be tolerated.”
