Men's Basketball: GNAC Reprimands MSUB Coach

Monday, January 7, 2013

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference has reprimanded Montana State University Billings men’s basketball coach Jamie Stevens for his post-game media comments following last Saturday’s game vs. Western Washington, commissioner Dave Haglund announced.

“Coach Stevens has been advised that public criticism of conference officials and other personnel is unacceptable and a violation of GNAC Bylaws,” says Haglund. “Any further violations of GNAC policies by Coach Stevens will subject him to additional penalties, including suspension.”

“We strongly support the GNAC’s decision regarding this situation,” said MSUB interim athletic director Krista Montague. “MSU Billings does not condone criticism of officials or any behavior that misrepresents the University’s commitment to good sportsmanship.  We will continue to be supportive of Coach Stevens and his ability to lead our men’s basketball program in a positive manner.”
