PORTLAND, Ore. – After leading the West Region and ranking among the top players in Division II in scoring, Alaska junior guard Shadeed Shabazz leads four GNAC selections to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Men’s Basketball All-West Region Team.

Shabazz was the lone first-teamer from the GNAC named to the squad. Receiving second-team accolades is Seattle Pacific sophomore guard Divant’e Moffitt, Western Washington senior forward Trevor Jasinsky and Western Oregon senior guard Dalven Brushier.

Shabazz was named the GNAC Player and Newcomer of the Year and shared the Defensive Player of the Year award after leading the conference and ranking third in Division II in scoring at 26.7 points per game. He also finished as the national leader in steals, averaging 3.38 per game and 115 total steals. Shabazz set the GNAC single-season record with 798 points scored, surpassing the mark of 770 set by Western Oregon’s Andy Avgi in 2015-16.

In 30 games, Shabazz scored 30 or more points on 12 occasions and 40 or more points three times. He scored a season-high 43 points against Concordia on December 7 and once again at Western Washington on February 6. In the GNAC Championships quarterfinals on March 5, Shabazz scored 42 points to lead the Nanooks to a 91-88 win over Western Oregon.

Moffitt earned First Team All-GNAC honors after leading the Falcons to their first GNAC regular-season championship since 2014 with an 18-2 conference mark and a 22-7 overall record. Moffitt finished fourth in the GNAC in scoring at 17.1 points per game, seventh in the conference with 3.4 assists per contest and tied for ninth with a .819 free-throw percentage. Moffitt scored in double figures in 26 games, led by his 33 points at Alaska on January 30.

Jasinsky earned his second-straight First Team All-GNAC selection and was named the GNAC Championships most valuable player. Jasinsky finished the season leading the Vikings with 14.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He scored double-digits in all but five of the Vikings’ games, paced by his 30-point performance against Azusa Pacific on November 16. Jasinsky earned the GNAC Championships MVP award after he scored 39 points in the two games.

Also a First Team All-GNAC selection, Brushier finished third in the GNAC in scoring with 18.1 points per game, fourth with 2.7 three-pointers made per game and was sixth in the conference with a .849 free-throw peercentage. He scored in double-figures in all but one of the Wolves’ 27 games, led by his 37 points against Saint Martin’s on January 9.
