PORTLAND, Ore. – A pair of solid all-around performances for Western Oregon junior guard Tanner Omlid and Simon Fraser senior guard Ellen Kett have earned the duo selection as the GNAC Players of the Week.

Omlid earned the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award after he led the Wolves to a pair of road wins to keep pace with the upper-half of the league standings. The junior averaged 26 points, 2.5 steals and three blocked shots in the two games and shot 45.2 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from three-point range. In Thursday’s 76-74 win at Seattle Pacific, Omlid scored 34 points on 13 of 22 from the field and 5 of 6 from three-point range to go along with three blocks. He then scored 18 points along with two rebounds, three assists and three blocks in Saturday’s 80-67 win at Saint Martin’s.

Omlid leads the Wolves in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He leads the GNAC and NCAA Division II in steals, averaging 3.14 per game. He is also third in the GNAC and 29th in Division II with an average of 2.15 blocked shots per game.

Kett, the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, scored 41 points, shot 58.3 percent from the field and shot 67.7 percent from three-point range to lead the Clan to road victories over Central Washington on Thursday and Northwest Nazarene on Saturday. In the 77-60 win over the Wildcats, Kett finished with 19 points on 8 of 13 from the field and 3 of 4 from three-point range. In Saturday’s 101-89 win at Northwest Nazarene, Kett led the Clan with a season-high 22 points, shooting 6 of 11 from the field and 7 of 8 from three-point range to go along with eight assists. In addition to the scoring numbers, Kett finished with 17 assists.

Kett enters the week averaging 11.4 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. She leads the GNAC and is fourth in Division II with 6.8 assists per game and leads all of Division II with 109 total assists. Kett is also 10th in the GNAC with 1.9 steals per game. She is the only GNAC player to rank in the league’s top-15 in in points, rebounds, assists and steals.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

He added 18 points, two rebounds, three assists and three blocks in Saturday’s 80-67 win at Saint Martin’s. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Ellen Kett (Simon Fraser, PG, 5-7, Sr., Melbourne, Australia – Ruyton): Kett scored 41 points and shot 58.3 percent from the field and 67.7 percent from three-point range along with 17 assists to lead the Clan to a pair of road victories. She scored 19 points on 8 of 13 from the field and 3 of 4 from three-point to go along with nine rebounds in Thursday’s 77-60 win at Central Washington. Kett led five SFU players scoring in double figures with 22 points in a 101-89 win at Northwest Nazarene, connecting on 6 of 11 from the field and 7 of 8 from three-point range along with eight assists.
