PORTLAND  – Simon Fraser women’s golf won its second tournament in five days, winning the Western Washington Invite on Tuesday to earn recognition as Red Lion/GNAC Team of the Week.

Simon Fraser won the event with a score of 24-over par 608, which was five strokes better than second place British Columbia and 14 strokes better than any other GNAC team. The score was just four strokes behind the all-time GNAC record for the course, which was set by Western Washington in 2010.

All five Clan golfers finished in the top 20 of the event out of 73 individuals. Sophomore Belinda Lin had the top finish for the Clan, taking third place with a score of three-over par 149. Lin was in a tie for fourth place after the first day and in the second round shot one-over par 74 to move up to third place.

Lin was joined by sophomore Emily Leung in the top 10 with a score of six-over par 152, shooting a 3-over par 76 in both rounds. Freshman Jaya Rampuri had the best finish for the Clan in the first round, scoring one-over par 74 to take third place after day one. Rampuri finished 11th overall with a score of seven-over par 153.

Juniors Breanna Croxen and Erin Farner finished within one stroke of each other. Croxen finished tied for 14th place after scoring nine-over par 155 in the two rounds. Farner was on pace with Croxen after day one and finished tied for 16th overall with a score of 10-over par 156.

It was the Clan’s second first-place finish in a five-day span. The previous weekend, SFU tied Concordia for first place at the Saint Martin’s Invitational. This week the Clan wraps up its fall season in Portland as one of four GNAC teams to compete in the Concordia Invitational. Simon Fraser is looking to become the first GNAC team since Western Washington did it in 2010 to win three fall tournaments in the same year.
