PORTLAND, Ore.--After completing a national search, Concordia University-Portland announced Brian Jamros will join the university as the new director of athletics.

Jamros will arrive in Oregon after serving as an associate athletic director for external relations at Concordia University-St. Paul.

"The search committee engaged in a rigorous national search to find the person who would take Concordia University Athletics through the remainder of the NCAA Division II process," said Concordia Vice President for Student Affairs & Athletics Glenn Smith. "Brian emerged from a talented pool of applicants as a personable leader and a tireless worker who will take that charge and continue to build on the tradition of sustained excellence for the Cavaliers."

Jamros has held several positions at Concordia-St. Paul since 2005, beginning as the director of marketing and promotions before being promoted to the assistant athletic director for development and finally the associate athletic director for external relations.

At Concordia-St. Paul, Jamros was responsible for overseeing nine sports, including baseball, golf, cross country and track & field. In addition, he was responsible for overseeing all athletic development, fundraising, marketing and promotions.

I would also like to thank Dr. Smith and the entire search committee for this opportunity as we move athletics into the NCAA and Division II."

Jamros will begin his duties on July 13 and will be joined in Portland by his wife Ashley and daughters, Grace and Olivia. He earned his BA in Kinesiology, along with a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Management and a Master of Business Administration from Concordia-St. Paul.

Concordia Athletics has placed inside the top 20 of the NACDA NAIA Directors' Cup for six straight seasons and has captured the Cascade Collegiate Conference All-Sports trophy in eight of the last nine years. Since 2000, Concordia has won 71 conference championships across all 13 sports offered by the league.

After years of national success in the NAIA, Concordia will transition to a complete NCAA DII schedule for all 15 sports beginning in 2015-16 as the 11th member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).


Highlights of Jamros' tenure at CU-St. Paul include: 
—Member of fundraising team that secured the largest gift in University history ($5 million)
—Increasing department fundraising every year since 2010
—Working to transition CU-St. Paul from NAIA to NCAA Division II
—Working as a member of the NCAA Division II Regional Advisory Committee
—Serving as University Title IX investigator
—Overseeing the Department of Athletics Internship Program
—Developing and implementing a student rewards program (Comet's Crazies)
—Working member of the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee
