PORTLAND, Ore. - Dana Goularte of Western Oregon and Quinn Peoples of Montana State Billings, who kept their respective teams in the playoff picture with key wins last week, have been selected the GNAC Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week,

Winning the Player of the Week award for men's basketball was Jeffrey Parker of Western Washington who led the Vikings to their sixth and seventh consecutive victories.

Other Player of the Week award winners included baseball players Luke Reinschmidt of MSU Billings and Michael Bennett of Western Oregon and softball players Sam Munger of Saint Martin's and Kiana Wood of Central Washington.

Following is a recap of their accomplishments and a listing of honorable mention selections:

Women’s Basketball: Dana Goularte, Western Oregon (F, 6-0, Sr., Port Orchard, WA) and Quinn Peoples, Montana State Billings (F, 5-11, Sr., Butte, MT). . . Goularte scored 46 points in two games while shooting 61 percent from the field.  In the Wolves’ two-point win over MSUB, Goularte scored 24 points while collecting seven rebounds. On the week the senior totaled 11 rebounds, four steals and three assists. Peoples had one of her best games in her MSUB career Thursday, scoring 23 points while connecting on six three-pointers. In Saturday’s win over Saint Martin’s she added 10 more points with two three-pointers. On the week she totaled 33 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.

Honorable Mention: Megan Mullings, Alaska Anchorage (F, 6-1, Jr., Glendale, AZ); Ellie Logan, Northwest Nazarene (G, 5-9, Fr., Fossil, OR); Megan Wiedeman, Saint Martin’s (F, 6-0, Jr., Sammamish, WA); Suzanna Ohlsen, Seattle Pacific (G, 5-7, Sr., Monroe, WA); Erin Chambers, Simon Fraser (G/F, 6-1, Sr., Mission, BC); Jenni White, Western Washington (G, 5-5, Sr., Spokane, WA).

Men’s Basketball:  Jeffrey Parker, Western Washington (F, 6-6, So., Richmond, CA - Salesian) led the Vikings to two wins, including a 73-50 victory at Western Oregon snapping the Wolves’ 11-game win streak.  In the two contests, Parker scored 42 points, connecting on 16 of 25 shots, including 9-of-15 three-pointers.  He also had six rebounds and three assists.  WWU has won seven straight, six by double-digit margins. 

Honorable Mention – Dom Williams, Central Washington (G, 5-11, 155, Sr., Tacoma, WA – Curtis/Tacoma CC); Alex Birketoft, Northwest Nazarene (F, 6-8, Fr., Oelstykke, Denmark); Julian Nichols (G, 6-2, 175, Upland, CA – Chaffey CC); Tyler Idowu, Saint Martin’s (F, 6-5, Sr., Oakland, CA – Rodriguez); Matt Borton, Seattle Pacific (G, 6-5, Sr., Yakima, WA – West Valley/Idaho);  Michael Harper, Simon Fraser (G, 6-4, Jr., Melbourne, Australia – U. of Hawaii).

Baseball: Player -  Luke Reinschmidt, Montana State Billings (CF, 5-11, Jr., Billings, MT) hit four home runs and had 13 RBIs in eight games. Five of Reinschmidt’s 12 hits were extra-base hits as he ended the week with a .879 slugging percentage. The centerfielder also scored nine times while drawing four walks, stealing two bases and recording 12 putouts. Pitcher - Michael Bennett, Western Oregon (RHP, 6-0, Jr., Bandon, OR)  pitched 5 1/3  scoreless innings against NAIA No. 2 Lewis-Clark State in the Wolves first shutout of the season. Bennett faced four batters or less in three of his five plus innings while striking out five. He also held the Warriors, a team batting .307 this season, to a .200 batting average.

Honorable Mention - Brady Muller, Montana State Billings (LHP, 6-1, Sr., Billings, MT); Andrew Helmstadter, Northwest Nazarene (C/INF, 6-0, So., Palm Desert, CA); Colton Loomis, Northwest Nazarene (RHP, 6-0, Jr., Cashmere, WA); Brad Banker, Saint Martin’s (RHP, 6-0, Sr., Alamo, CA); Chandler Tracy, Saint Martin’s (C/UTL, 6-2, Sr., Bellevue, WA); Matt Taylor, Western Oregon (OF, 6-1, Sr., Corona, CA).

Softball: Player – Sam Munger, Saint Martin’s (P-SS, Sr., Everett, WA) led the Saints to a 5-0 record both at the plate and in the circle.  She had 10 hits – increasing her career total to 219 which is the seventh highest in GNAC history – in 21 at bats.  Among her hits were four doubles and two home runs.  She drove in 10 runs including six in a 10-3 win over Northwest Christian.  She also recorded her 64th and 65th  career wins – No. 3 all-time in the conference – allowing just four runs (two earned) in 13 innings.  Pitcher – Kiana Wood, Central Washington (5-6, So., Aloha, OR) won two games defeating Dominican 6-0 and Holy Names 13-1.  She pitched six innings and allowed just two hits against the Penguins, then pitched a five-inning complete-game against Holy Names.

Honorable Mention – Amanda Evola, Western Oregon (OF, 5-7, Sr., Beaverton, OR – Westview); Alyson Boytz, Western Oregon (P, 5-9, Jr., Noti, OR – Elmira/Clackamas).
