PORTLAND, Ore. –Jordan Kollars had a pair of assists last week to lead Seattle Pacific’s men’s soccer team, which improved to 10-0-1,  to a pair of victories.

That, along with his defensive efforts, has earned Kollars GNAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.  He was one of 16 players to earn the weekly award.  Here is the recap for the Week of Oct. 6-12:

Men’s Soccer

Offense -  Mateo Espinosa, Simon Fraser (F, 5-11, So., Calgary, AB/Notre Dame Secondary) and Luke Olney, Western Washington (M, 6-0, Fr., Enumclaw, WA) ... Espinoza scored two goals – the first in each contest - and recorded an assist in 3-0 and 3-1 wins at South Dakota Mines and Mary, respectively.  Olney had an assist on a game-tying goal and then got the game-winner with five seconds left in overtime as the Vikings rallied to defeat SD Mines 2-1 and sweep a two-game road trip.

Defense - Jordan Kollars, Seattle Pacific (M, 5-11, So., Silverdale, WA - Central Kitsap) led the Falcons defensively in their two wins. The midfielder helped hold the back-line in the team’s 1-0 shutout of No. 22 Northwest Nazarene on Saturday and held MSUB to seven shots on Thursday. Kollars also assisted two of the Falcons’ three goals, including the game-winner in Saturday’s 1-0 victory against Northwest Nazarene.  He served a free kick from the right side into the center of the box where Bryson Pavel headed it in from 11 yards out.  It was his fourth assist of the season.

Ontiveros, Northwest Nazarene (GK, 6-2, Sr., La Puente, CA/Arroyo); Fredy Razo, Northwest Nazarene (F, 5-10, Sr., Irvine CA/Irvine Valley College); Troy McCarty, Western Washington (D, 6-0, So., Snohomish, WA).

Women’s Soccer

Offense -  Laura Moore, Seattle Pacific (M, 5-3, Jr., Kent, WA/Kentwood) recorded a hat trick in Seattle Pacific’s 6-1 win over Northwest Nazarene.   “Laura has been putting herself in great spots all season and the ball has been finding the post and the cross bar,” SPU head coach Chuck Sekyra said.  “We had just talked about having her just keep putting herself in great spots and the ball will start finding the back of the net and there you go. She was dominating on the day.” 

Defense - Krystal Daniels, Montana State Billings (GK, 5-6, Sr., Kent, WA/Peninsula College) made five stops in key situations to help the Yellowjackets earn a tie and a win. Daniels earned her fourth shutout of the season on Saturday in a draw against Seattle Pacific.  She faced 20 shots against the Falcons and made some phenomenal saves, including one on a crucial breakaway in the first half that kept the game scoreless.

Honorable Mention - Alisa Sagdahl, Montana State Billings (F, 5-8, Jr., Edmonds, WA/Meadowdale); Lexi Fesenbek, Northwest Nazarene (F, 5-4, Jr., Olympia, WA/Olympia); Taylor Higa, Western Oregon (F, 5-6, So., Manoa, HI/Mid-Pacific); Amanda Rose Johnson, Western Oregon (GK, 5-8, Sr., Montrose, CA – Crescent Valley); Ashley Haden, Western Washington (GK, 5-8, Jr., Brush Prairie, WA); Jessica Bertucci, Western Washington (M, 5-8, Jr., Bellingham, WA – Sehome).

Football

Offense -  Terrell Watson, Azusa Pacific (RB, 6-2, 240, Sr., Oxnard, CA) rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns and also caught two passes for 53 yards as the Cougars rallied from an early 14-0 deficit to defeat previously unbeaten and 24th ranked Humboldt State 55-21 and take over first-place in the GNAC.  Watson surpassed the 1,000-yard mark, reaching that figure for the third year in a row.  With five regular-season games remaining he already has 1,081 yards this season.

Defense -  Breeon Moreno, Western Oregon (CB, 5-10, 190, Jr., Clarksville, TN) had two key defensive stops in the Wolves’ 19-14 win over Dixie State.   He recovered a fumble at the WOU 38 to end a Dixie first-quarter drive and jump-start a 62-yard TD march by the Wolves that produced points on a 28-yard pass from Trey Shimabukuro to Paul Reeves.  He later sealed the win for WOU with a interception at the four-yard line on a fourth-and-five play on the Red Storm’s final possession of the game.  He was also credited with one pass breakup in the game.

Special Teams - Jesse Zalk, Central Washington (WR, 5-8, 160, So., Battle Ground, WA - Prairie) and Jamie Cacciatore, Azusa Pacific (K, 5-8, 175, Jr., Orange, CA) ... Zalk had 210 all-purpose yards including 94 on two kickoffs (62 and 32) in CWU's 61-34 win at South Dakota Mines.  He also caught six passes for 116 yards and one touchdown.  Cacciatore kicked field goals of 40 and 26 yards, converted on 7-of-7 extra points, averaged 39.6 yards on seven punts (including three inside the 20) and had four touchbacks among his 10 kickoffs in APU's home win over Humboldt State.

Honorable Mention - Jonathan Thropay, Azusa Pacific (DB, 6-4, 215, So., Covina, CA); Jake Nelson, Central Washington (QB, 6-2, 210, So., Lake Stevens, WA); Paul Revis, Western Oregon (WR, 5-9, 165, Fr., Scappoose, OR); Kevin Haynes, Central Washington (LB, 6-0, 230, Fr., Brush Prairie, WA – Battle Ground) 

Volleyball

Offense – Kayla Erickson, Western Washington (MB, 6-0, Sr., Gig Harbor, WA - Peninsula) and Jordan Deming, Central Washington (OH, 5-9, So., Hillsboro, OR – Century) each hit for high percentages leading their respective teams to a pair of 3-0 victories.  Erickson had 30 kills and hit for a .490 percentage in sweeps at Western Oregon and Saint Martin’s.  She  also had a team-high five blocks.  Deming was charged with just three errors and hit for a .469 percentage (18-3-32) in wins over Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific.  She also had three blocks and 12 digs.

Defense – Madi Farrell, Northwest Nazarene (MB, 6-2, Fr., Coeur d’Alene, ID – Lake City) had 13 blocks, including 10 in a 3-1 conquest of Montana State Billings Thursday, as the Crusaders completed the first-half of the conference season in a tie for first with Alaska Anchorage.    The true-freshman also had nine kills in that contest and 14 for the week while hitting at a .394 clip (14-1-33).

Honorable Mention – Samantha Hutchinson, Western Washington (L, 5-7, Sr., Gig Harbor, WA); Elayna Rice, Northwest Nazarene (OH, 6-3, Jr., Billings, MT); Amanda Renkema, Simon Fraser (MB, 6-1, Sr., Delta, BC).

Cross Country

Men – Dylan Anthony, Alaska Anchorage (Sr., Kodiak, AK) finished first in a 10,000-meter time of 31:02, to lead the Seawolves to an easy team win at the 41st annual Western Washington Classic.  The Vikings have been unchallenged this fall posting three perfect scores of 15.  On Saturday, they recorded a team score of 18 placing six runners in the Top 10.

Women – Katelyn Steen, Western Washington (Jr., Sammamish, WA - Eastlake), finished third in back of two Trinity Western runners at Lake Padden Park, in a 6,000-meter time of 21:20.  In three races this fall, she has had finishes of first, third and eighth.  Her time Saturday was just eight seconds slower than her time last month at the University of Washington Invitational.

Long); Megan Teigen, Saint Martin's (So., Olympia, WA);Anni Patti, Seattle Pacific (Jr., Renton, WA); Rebecca Bassett, Simon Fraser (So., Nanimo, BC).

Golf

Men - Austin Berg, MSU Billings (Fr., Billings, MT – Billings West) finished fourth in the InterWest Wildcat Classic at Chico Monday and Tuesday carding a 54-hole total of two-under-par 214.  Berg had rounds of 69, 72 and 73 in leading the Yellowjackets to a fourth-place team finish with an 895 total (293-296-306).

Women -  Jennifer Liedes, Saint Martin’s So., Olympia, WA) cruised to a 15-stroke victory in the Saint Martin’s Invitational at the Olympia Golf & Country Club.  Liedes, who played her freshman season at the University of Washington, had rounds of 74 and 70 on the par-73, 5,800 yard layout to finish 15 shots ahead of second-place Mackenzie Field of Simon Fraser, who had rounds of 80 and 79.    The Saints finished with a 36-hole team score of 632, outdistancing the Clan by 30 shots.
