PORTLAND, Ore. – With a full slate of Great Northwest Athletic Conference guests, GNAC Insider returned to the airwaves Tuesday evening and the latest episode is now available as a podcast via iTunes and for archived listening on the GNAC Stretch Internet portal.

The first show of the new year featured Western Oregon men’s basketball head coach Brady Bergeson, Montana State Billings women’s basketball coach Kevin Woodin, and Saint Martin’s baseball player and GNAC Student Athlete Advisory Committee representative Spencer Dodd.

Bergeson’s Wolves defeated No. 11 Seattle Pacific to earn GNAC Team of the Week honors, and his squad has now won six games in a row. The third-year head coach discussed some of the keys to his team’s success so far this season, and how his roster has gained valuable experience in close games over the past two seasons.

Woodin’s Yellowjackets are set to square off with Seattle Pacific in the first GNAC Game of the Week on ROOT SPORTS this Saturday in Seattle. The eight-game televised series will feature every GNAC school at least once, with both men’s and women’s teams being represented. Woodin commented on his team’s preparations for the game, as well as the challenges and successes his squad has had so far this season as a top team in the conference.

Dodd, a first baseman on the Saints’ baseball team, serves as the national representative on the GNAC’s SAAC, which is a committee comprised of conference student-athletes who represent their peers by voting on NCAA governance and legislative items. Dodd discussed the upcoming SAAC meeting at Simon Fraser University on Saturday, and explained some of the functions of being a committee member.

GNAC Insider will run through the end of the 2013-14 academic year, airing every Tuesday at 7 p.m. Pacific time. The program is hosted by Kevin Young of Soundbrook, and all episodes are available to be downloaded as podcasts via iTunes and under the 'on-demand' tab of the GNAC Stretch Internet portal.
