PORTLAND, Ore. - Red Lion Hotels, which has properties in nine Western states and British Columbia, has been named the exclusive sponsor of the Great Northwest Athletic Player-of-the-Week award for the 2012-13 season, GNAC Commissioner Dave Haglund announced.

Every Monday throughout the academic year, the GNAC will recognize student-athletes who have excelled on the field of play with its Red Lion Player of the Week awards.

The awards will be presented for all 16 sports sponsored by the conference. Beginning Monday, awards for the sports of football, volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s cross country and women’s cross country will be announced.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to honor the outstanding GNAC student-athletes with this weekly award,” said Dan Hilsendeger, Red Lion’s National Director of Sales for Sports. “The GNAC is an outstanding NCAA conference with talented student-athletes, and we’re excited about the opportunity to partner with the league in such a visible way.”
