PORTLAND -- Central Washington baseball coach Desi Storey has been suspended three games for pulling his team from the field of an ongoing contest because of a dispute with the umpires. The incident occurred during the final weekend of the regular season.

By NCAA rule, Storey must sit out the first two games of the 2017 regular season. The GNAC added a third game, which will be served during CWU’s 2017 conference opener. Storey was also officially reprimanded by the conference.

“Actions such as this are never acceptable and will not be tolerated, and Coach Storey has been advised that his behavior violated the sportsmanship standards established by the conference,” said GNAC commissioner Dave Haglund. “The conference expects all of its coaches to serve as role models and to always exhibit respectable standards of decorum and personal deportment at conference events.”
