PORTLAND, Ore.  – Western Oregon designated hitter Trevor Podratz was selected honorable mention All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Podratz led Western Oregon to a 30-20 overall record, 24-16 GNAC, and a runner-up finish at the GNAC Baseball Championships. In the tournament, he went 9 for 19 with seven runs batted in to lead the Wolves to the title game.

Podratz was named the GNAC Newcomer of the Year after transferring from the University of Hawaii before the season. He led the GNAC in hitting with a .391 batting average and also had 16 doubles, seven home runs, 44 RBI and 35 runs scored. Podratz finished the regular season with a 22-game hitting streak, the longest by a Western Oregon player since 2010.

This is already Podratz’s fourth postseason award. He was selected First Team All-West Region by both the NCBWA and the American Baseball Coaches Association. Podratz was also named to the all-region second team by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association.

The senior became the first Western Oregon player to receive NCBWA All-American status since shortstop Blake Miller was selected honorable mention in 2013.
